Founded in 1939, LIM College is focused on the global business of fashion and lifestyle. Offering master's, bachelor's, and associate degree programs, LIM prepares students for career success via an immersive approach grounded in real-world experience and "learning by doing" through required internships. LIM College's commitment to preparing students for professional success in the fashion business is evidenced by a Career Outcomes Rate of 96% for the Class of 2025. Alumni excel throughout all areas of fashion and lifestyle and have gone on to work for brands and companies such as Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, The TJX Companies, Prada, Ulta Beauty, Microsoft, Walmart, Macy's, and Nike. LIM is part of the Japan Educational Foundation (JEF) global portfolio of colleges and universities.

LIM College proudly fosters an active and diverse community of ambitious students and young professionals who aspire to build or further careers in the business of fashion. The school's student body totals more than 1,300 students, across undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition to students from around the U.S.—who either study on campus in New York City or are learning online from their home location—the College has many international students (including F-1 students).

About 350 students are housed in the nearby FOUND Study residence hall.

There are a few common attributes shared by LIM鈥檚 student body. For example, you鈥檒l quickly find that most undergrads here are 鈥渇emale,鈥� 鈥渇rom the tri-state area,鈥� and rather 鈥渇ashionable.鈥� Moreover, they are all 鈥渧ery passionate and excited to learn and experience the fashion industry.鈥� Students also happily report that their peers 鈥渢end to be...liberal and open minded and very artsy.鈥� And as one individual proudly proclaims, 鈥渢hey embody creativity, uniqueness, independence, and determination鈥� as well. More importantly, LIM students are 鈥渉elpful and encouraging,鈥� 鈥渁lways willing to give advice,鈥� and 鈥渓end a helping hand.鈥� As one grateful undergrad concludes, 鈥淲e are conditioned in a sense to always be thinking of our next move, how we can advance ourselves in our professional lives, and improve on our business skills.鈥�

By and large, students at LIM are 鈥渧ery career focused鈥� and 鈥渉ave a great work ethic.鈥� So it鈥檚 not too surprising to learn that 鈥渄ays are usually filled with either school classes or internships/jobs.鈥� Many undergrads also note that since 鈥淟IM is a big commuter school...most people just go to class then leave.鈥� And given that the campus only consists of 鈥渢hree buildings throughout the city,鈥� there鈥檚 not a lot of space in which to simply 鈥渉ang around.鈥� Though some individuals do counter that 鈥淟IM holds many school wide events during the open hour on Mondays and Wednesdays for students to interact and engage.鈥� Indeed, we鈥檙e told that 鈥渟ocial life consists of doing things throughout the city.鈥� LIM students can often be spotted around New York City attending 鈥渃oncerts, fashion shows, bars, celebrity events鈥�[and even] live TV events.鈥� They also eagerly explore nearby 鈥渕useums, restaurants, shows, parks, shops, and more.鈥� One happy student elaborates, 鈥淲e like to go out to eat a lot and see movies. I personally love gallery hopping and going to live music parties.鈥�
